<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our story began with the Student Mentoring Program, launched in 2007 to support school desegregation efforts in Szeged and H\u00f3dmez\u0151v\u00e1s\u00e1rhely. These local government measures aimed to end the separate schooling of disadvantaged children\u2014including many Roma students\u2014and to ensure equal access to quality education for all learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the Student Mentoring Program, university students\u2014primarily pre-service teachers\u2014supported disadvantaged children who had been transferred to new schools as part of desegregation efforts. They worked with them during lessons and school activities, helping them with learning, adjustment, and social integration. By 2012, the program had outgrown its original structure, leading us to establish Motivation Educational Association. This gave us a stronger organizational foundation to sustain and expand our work and to reach even more students over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, our community uses the name Motivation Collective. This name brings together the programs, initiatives, and collaborations through which we work toward a more just, open, sustainable, and caring society. While our official legal name remains Motivation Educational Association, we use Motivation Collective in our everyday work and in our public communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since our founding, we have worked to make education in Hungary more equitable, effective, and responsive by examining and improving both the education system and the teaching practices used within it. Our work is organized around three interconnected strategic areas that support and strengthen one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PEDAGOGICAL OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n PRACTICAL LEVEL: MENTORING AND METHODOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Our primary goal is to support disadvantaged children and young people, as well as their families. Through mentoring relationships built on trust, we aim to support their overall development, including social and emotional skills, academic achievement, and the recognition and development of their strengths.\n\nWe also work to support the professional growth and reflective development of pre-service teachers and others preparing for helping professions. Through our direct practice, we develop and adapt innovative teaching methods that respond to the needs of the communities we work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n SYSTEM LEVEL: RESEARCH, POLICY, ADVOCACY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We work to improve education in Hungary by examining and developing both the education system itself and the content and methods used within it. Through this work, we aim to contribute to a more equitable, higher-quality, and more responsive education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We seek to develop practical solutions and share effective practices that strengthen the motivation and collaboration of those involved in education\u2014especially students, parents, teachers, and other professionals. Our key areas of research and development include motivation, extracurricular learning, reading comprehension, climate-conscious education, and the advancement of educational equity.\nWe also aim to make our values and results more visible and meaningful not only to policymakers, professionals, and educators, but also to the broader public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n PUBLIC AWARENESS ON THE TOPIC OF EQUITABLE EDUCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We promote equitable education. We are committed to dispelling misconceptions surrounding the education of children living in poverty and Roma students, as well as implementing programs that support these groups. We see it as our responsibility to foster public dialogue on the role of education, effective teaching methods, and the renewal of the educational system and the teacher training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n COMMUNITY-CENTERED OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We build on the knowledge and experience gained through our professional work to support the development of local communities. We bring people together around a range of local and global issues, creating programs that strengthen social integration and solidarity. We are committed to participatory approaches and to promoting active citizenship. We aim to have a meaningful impact on our immediate environment and on our city\u2014working to make Szeged an even more livable and welcoming place.\nAt the same time, we also actively invest in building and strengthening the Motivation Collective community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We promote environmentally conscious thinking and actions, which can be seen in both our daily operations and professional work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We place great importance on raising public awareness about climate change, which includes familiarizing people with this complex phenomenon, generating solutions, and supporting preparation and adaptation to the anticipated environmental, social, and economic changes. Additionally, we aim to foster the understanding of natural values and the adoption of environmentally conscious lifestyles, with the principles of permaculture serving as a guide. Recycling is a key concept for us, and we are committed to combating the wasteful use of resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n STRENGTHENING CIVIL SOCIETY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A key goal of ours is to strengthen autonomous local communities and organizations. We see ourselves as a civil resource center, actively working to establish collaborations at local, regional, and national levels that foster the growth of civil society capacities. To achieve this goal, we contribute to the creation of a civil ecosystem by coordinating efforts, building networks, and securing resources, enabling mutual support, knowledge-sharing, and information flow between different communities and organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n INTERNATIONALIZATION, STRENGTHENING EUROPEAN IDENTITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Our key goal is to position our work and methods within an international context. We strive to establish international collaborations to gain new inspirations and make our results more widely applicable. At the individual level within the Motivation community, we believe it is important to foster international connections so that our members become more open-minded and broaden their perspectives by engaging with different cultures, exploring diverse viewpoints, and practicing communication in foreign languages. All of this is essential for our ability to participate in solving global social and environmental challenges. Based on our values, we are committed to strengthening European identity and citizenship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n ORGANIZATIONAL-FOCUSED OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n SUSTAINABLE ORGANIZATIONAL OPERATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Our key goal is to build a stable and sustainable organization that enables us to pursue our pedagogical and community-centered objectives effectively while preserving our autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We strive for balanced development and therefore prioritize controlled, intentional growth. We see stronger local and national roots and connections as a key element of sustainability, and we consciously invest in building a broad and engaged base of support. We aim not only to expand but also to diversify our supporter network and funding sources. At the same time, we take a proactive approach to shaping our future by launching projects that can also function as social enterprises.\nWe support the growth, professional development, and personal fulfillment of our members, while also taking their individual aspirations into account.
