The training prepares the participants to be able to assess the issues associated with the reading performance and learning motivation of disadvantaged pupils as well as to develop the reading skills of pupils. The theoretical part focuses on the importance of reading; describes a few issues relating to learning motivation and their relationship to reading.

After providing the theoretical basis, the training gives examples on how to develop special programs for improving reading and motivational skills as well as reading strategies. Finally, some general questions of assessment and evaluation and the ways of assessing the development of reading skills are discussed. During the training, participants work together and cooperate to learn how to develop their own program for the development of reading skills as well as to learn how to use different texts for developmental purposes.
