The identity of the Motivation Collective is tied to the Student Mentoring Program, the founders all played an active role in establishing and operating the Mentoring Program.
When the Program was launched in 2007, the founders organized a mentor network of pre-service teachers to support the desegregation measures in Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely. Over time, by undertaking the support of students not directly affected by these measures, the Student Mentoring Program evolved into a compensatory program for disadvantaged students.

We aim to promote the renewal of the Hungarian education system, to improve the overall quality of education and achieve equity by examining and developing the pedagogical content and methods applied in the educational system.
PEDAGOGICAL OBJECTIVES
1 PRACTICAL LEVEL: MENTORING AND METHODOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
Our primary goal is to support disadvantaged children, youth, and their families. Through mentor-mentee relationships built on trust, we aim to holistically support personal development, including enhancing personal and social competencies, fostering academic success, and nurturing talents. Another key goal is to offer pre-service teachers and future professionals in helping fields opportunities to develop their skills and mindset within the framework of our compensatory programs. As part of our practical activities, we strive to develop and adapt innovative pedagogical methods.
2 SYSTEMIC LEVEL: RESEARCH, POLICY, AND ADVOCACY
Our objective is to contribute to the renewal of the Hungarian education system by examining and developing educational content and methods. We aim to enhance quality and strengthen equity within education.
We strive to develop solutions and best practices to increase the motivation and collaboration of key stakeholders—primarily students, parents, teachers, and other professionals. Our key research and development areas include motivation, extracurricular activities, reading comprehension development, climate education, and promoting educational equity. We aim to raise awareness and foster receptiveness to our values and achievements, not only among policymakers, professionals, and educators but also within the broader public.
3 PUBLIC AWARENESS ON EDUCATIONAL EQUITY
We promote equitable education. We are committed to dispelling misconceptions surrounding the education of children living in poverty and Roma students, as well as implementing programs that support these groups. We see it as our responsibility to foster public dialogue on the role of education, effective teaching methods, and the renewal of the educational system and the teacher training.
KÖZÖSSÉGI FÓKUSZÚ CÉLKITŰZÉSEK
1 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
We apply the best practices and professional experiences developed through our work to foster local community development. We build communities around various local and global issues, strengthening social integration and solidarity through our programs. We are committed to applying a participatory approach and promoting the concept of active citizenship. We aim to have a positive impact on our immediate environment, our city: we want to make Szeged even more livable and lovable. Of course, we are also consciously building the community of the Motivation Collective.
2 ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMS
We promote environmentally conscious thinking and actions, which can be seen in both our daily operations and professional work.
We place great importance on raising public awareness about climate change, which includes familiarizing people with this complex phenomenon, generating solutions, and supporting preparation and adaptation to the anticipated environmental, social, and economic changes. Additionally, we aim to foster the understanding of natural values and the adoption of environmentally conscious lifestyles, with the principles of permaculture serving as a guide. Recycling is a key concept for us, and we are committed to combating the wasteful use of resources.
3 STRENGTHENING CIVIL SOCIETY
A key goal of ours is to strengthen autonomous local communities and organizations. We see ourselves as a civil resource center, actively working to establish collaborations at local, regional, and national levels that foster the growth of civil society capacities. To achieve this goal, we contribute to the creation of a civil ecosystem by coordinating efforts, building networks, and securing resources, enabling mutual support, knowledge-sharing, and information flow between different communities and organizations.
4 STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONALISM AND EUROPEAN IDENTITY
Our key goal is to position our work and methods within an international context. We strive to establish international collaborations to gain new inspirations and make our results more widely applicable. At the individual level within the Motivation community, we believe it is important to foster international connections so that our members become more open-minded and broaden their perspectives by engaging with different cultures, exploring diverse viewpoints, and practicing communication in foreign languages. All of this is essential for our ability to participate in solving global social and environmental challenges. Based on our values, we are committed to strengthening European identity and citizenship.
SZERVEZETI FÓKUSZÚ CÉLKITŰZÉSEK: FENNTARTHATÓ SZERVEZETI MŰKÖDÉS
Our key goal is to establish a predictable and sustainable organizational operation, allowing us to effectively pursue the realization of our pedagogical and community-centered objectives while preserving our autonomy.
We strive for balanced growth, which is why we are interested in controlled expansion. One of the key elements of sustainability is increasing our local and national social embeddedness, so we consciously dedicate energy to building strong connections. We aim not only to increase but also to diversify our supporter base and grant resources. Additionally, by proactively launching projects that can be seen as social enterprises, we take an active role in shaping our future. We support the development of our members, both professionally and personally, considering their individual visions for the future, while prioritizing the organization’s long-term viability. We are constantly working to find new members and engage former mentees as active participants. We place emphasis on strengthening the organizational identity.
